You can get email messages on your phone by SMS. Cell phone carriers have SMS gate ways which take email messages by mail and deliver them to customers’ as SMS text messages.

Google Mobile allows to send free messages. This service is free from Google but charges from your carrier for usage may apply.

Teleflip You can get and send emails on your cell phone. There’s no need to invest in a smartphone. There’s no software downloads. You don’t need a mobile Internet or push email data plan. Teleflip doesn’t charge for the service. The only cost is your carrier’s standard text messaging rates. It is available in USA and soon in Canada.

GismoSMS is a free service that allows you to send SMS messages to any mobile phone directly from your web browser. There is no charge to send messages with Gizmo SMS however the receiver may have charges for receiving the message.


Google Send to Phone for Firefox  enables you to send short text messages of web page content to your mobile phone. For example, you might text message yourself a phone number, an address, or directions that you find on the Web.

SMS Gateways

If you know what the carrier the recipient’s phone is on, it is enough to send him/her an email. The carrier determines what email address of the receiving phone is going to be. For example, Boost Mobile phones’ address are all number@myboostmobile.com. In order to send an email to your friend, you need to find the right carrier, or just ask your friend which one he/she uses.
